Drip is a tool for artists and creators to fund and build community around their creative practice. It was launched in 2017 by Kickstarter, PBC.
Designed to put the work of creators front-and-center, Drip is unique among other subscriptions platforms for a few reasons:
- Drip prioritizes creator independence. The work and relationships that creators build online should belong to them, so creators are able to export their data and content, and we’ll even help creators securely transfer subscription and payments information to other subscription platforms. This process will be manual, per creator request, for now, but we plan to fully automate in the future.
- Drip follows the mission and values codified in Kickstarter’s Public Benefit Corporation charter, which mandate a commitment to helping people bring their creative projects to life, and not putting profit first.
- Every Drip begins with a founding membership period, designed to help creators build momentum and celebrate their early supporters.
We designed Drip to be both separate from and complementary to Kickstarter. Existing Kickstarter users can use their stored account and payment details to easily support creators on Drip. That’s over 13 million people who will be able to more easily support creators on Drip.
